I started writing this review after I'd finished volume 16 of xxxHolic, well aware that there were 3 more volumes of material to go through. I did this deliberately, after my experience with Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle I wanted to write my opinions of the work before the ending potentially spoiled them.

Fruits Basket. What a weird experience it was, reading 23 volumes of this manga.  Even with all the androgyny, cross-dressing, ho yay and les yay that went on occasionally, it was surprisingly…heterosexual by the end. I don't know why I was surprised -- I mean, it's one of the more mainstream mangas isn't it?

( It's about a lot more than just some weird family possessed by the vengeful spirits of the Chinese zodiac... )

I almost didn't read past chapter two of Karneval, because I just wasn't feeling it at first. But then I told myself I needed to at least read the first volume (six chapters) before even beginning to pass judgment. I have successfully sucked my husband into the world of manga (I think, I hope) with this 12-volume series.
